Well done Ed you never know keep improving and Robin might let you use that Hilti !!😊
Love how Ed asked which side you want the writing and you gave an answer. It's the little touches of care that show the attention to detail is amazing on both of your work!
Learning a fair bit from Robin, just goes to show that, being methodical and careful planning and setting out, you can achieve stunning and fast results, even keeping the osb off the floor ! Love it ❤
Very nice work lads! Didn’t know about the degradation time on those breather membranes so thanks for the heads up 👍🏻
Any time!
It's nice to see that you and Ed both enjoy your work so much. Keep up the good work.
It’s coming on nicely Robin, good how you are explaining everything, really look forward to every video, thankyou👍
You are very welcome
Obviously when it comes to bats being safe robin is the man! 😉😆
Another great video full of explanations Robin. Keep it up love learning from you.
Thanks, will do!
Project is definitely coming along robin, enjoying this one 😆
Cheers Chris!!!
Great to see how the two of you work together. 👍
Thanks Olly!!
Good to see you back, everything going well, very interesting about the Batsafe .
Looking good!!! (and the garages!)
Thanks Sam!!
One cut, other fix - always. You get into a nice rhythm doing just one op plus you know exactly who done what if there’s a cock up 😋. 3/4 OSB and Oak FE cladding - that’s a proper job, as always 👍🏻👍🏻
Shout out from.South Africa great work Robin.
Great content as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Great content again Robin. Many thanks.
Thanks David
Excellent going and details 👍🏼
Ahh GSD as well brilliant ✊
Glad you like it
Nicework robin would love to work with you mate stuff I could learn off you mate love your work I've learnt loads watching your videos anything to make the job easier
Block work job done
Nice job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Sterling run fixing lines across the board like they do in the States and Canada.
Batman & Robin 🦇
Brilliant!!! that has made me laugh!!!
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Ed needs a step ladder!
6:25 2-3mm expansion between boards?
Yes I have popped a video link card to another video that I did about this maybe check this out
Can I ask why you didn’t make a 6’ rod when cutting the OSB instead of using the tape ?
There was only a small number of six foot cuts then we are making 4 ft cuts to use the 2 ft offcuts, if i was making only 6ft cuts then a rod as you say would be even quicker
You could have screwed a stanley blade onto the batten to cut dpc and just dragged the batten down, nice neat job would not expect nothing else
Yes that would have been good!!! great idea
another great video thanks, do you allow for expansion gaps when setting out? What's happened to your roofing square?
Hi Scott, at 16 inch centres the imperial boards will fit with about 2 to 3 mm of space, my roofing square will be available hopefully around easter time, do you use Instagram? I will be talking about it there more regularly soon
Any reason they went for two instead of one bigger structure? It is a huge amount of money for quite small garages?
Its a design to suit its position
A lot of clients who have a lot of money, like to separate their cars due to environmental factors. One client i had a car that need to be in a heat controlled space to minimise air damage to the chassis (car was an Aston DB4 zagato.. which is millions - client was a hedge fund multi multi millionaire)
Bats and newts. Government are doing more for them than us simple folk 😂
That’s because not enough bats, too many simple folk😀
What osb boards size have you got 2438 x 1220 = 8 feet x 4 feet so your 16 inch centres are every 406 mill just over
Yes Wayne they are a fraction under 8 x 4
Is osb breathable ?
Standard OSB3 is considered to be slightly breathable
A bit confused. In your previous OSB video you stated you need to leave a 2-3mm gap between boards for expansion. What happened with this build?
we are doing this here too, the studs at 16 inch centres and the factory boards that come up just under 8ft by 4ft allow the gap. I did not cover this in the video because I have done it before as you know, I reckon in hindsight I should have re visited this?
@@ukconstructionDefinitely, I didn't see you use any 3 mm spacers between and from the angle it was filmed you looked like like you slammed all the OSB panels together with no gaps.
Can I ask do you have a contract in place, or do you just build it and it gets handed over when it is finished.
I have a verbal contract in place, Jack the boss will have a contract I guess
@@ukconstruction Thanks. All the best.
That whole story bout the bats is a piss take surely
It is law
Is the “governor” the owner, or the general contractor u r subbing for?
Hi Bill, Jack is the main Contractor that I am working for
As long as the bats are alright I'm alright
Ed is brave wearing rings.
alot of council ecologists dont like new bat safe menmbrane..we got forced to use the old bitumen type.
The old type is not breathable and is fine where you dont need a breather we call the type 1F
Im guessing the bat safe membrane is now a stipulation if your property had bats found in the survey. My brother had a bats in in survey and got told they can get through something like a hole the size of a pinky. I'll need ti mention it to him . The plans the architect did have to be the best plans I've ever seen every detail is done with dimensions. None of this getting a scale rule out and nonsense getting a wrong size.
Quick question, do you have to leave an expansion gap between the OSB or do you just butt them together.
Yes its a couple of MM
@ukconstruction Thank you 👍
How many hoodies do you need 😂
It was proper cold at the time of filming!!
Out of interest how tall is big Ed?
More of a case of how short is Robin 😂
I’ve got a chap who is 6’5” and left handed, it’s so helpful as we can run along things so fast me low and right, him high and left!
Yep I am short at 5' 7"
@@FiscalWoofer me too 6'5" & left handed, we are very artistic 😃
@@FiscalWoofer Less of the bedroom chat mate this is a serious video!
why 18mm? wouldntt a standard 13mm osb do?
There is almost nothing in the price and I personally like the rigidity and the extra strength that it provides
@@ukconstruction In terms of shear strength, the thickness of the OSB doesn't matter (essentially). 13mm for 600OC is optimal, and anything thicker means you are just lugging extra weight around. There are cases for thicker boards on walls, but usually for extra fire resistance.
First 🙂
what does first mean?
Just because the Bats are protected doesn't mean we should help that nuisance species. And it's amazing that the eco regs are so vital unless you need to help bats.
Rob, this is BS And you know it.
It is also law!!! I follow the rules and sometimes I do not agree with them or like them, but the fines for harming or killing bats are big!!!
yeah dont mess around with bat ecologists mafia or you`ll regret it!
since when have bats ever been a nuisance
And humans have never been a nuisance 🙄
At the 12:00min. mark , did i notice Ed missing the studwork with a few nails. 🫣😂
